House Sitting In Te Awamutu – Second Visit

I’ve been house sitting in Te Awamutu since finishing up in Levin. I left Tiny and friends on April 9th and started this current sit the next day, with a sleepover at Raetihi to break up the long drive.

This is my second stay on this property. I was here for a month at the end of 2024.

Te Awamutu – First Visit

It’s good to be back, I really enjoyed my stay here last time. It’s a nice cosy, comfy, and sunny house in suburban Te Awamutu. Pretty much everything is within easy walking distance, so I don’t have to go too far for a packet of chips or perhaps my biggest crave – frozen mango. And I’ll be burning up next to no gas when doing my shopping. The neighbours are pretty quiet, too.

I’m here for five and a half weeks, so my car is getting a good birthday while I’m handy to the workshops. It got some panel beating done last week (insurance job) and she’s booked in next week for a service and a few other bits and pieces.

When I was staying here last time, there were three kitty cats to look after. This time round, only one of that trio is still living at this address – Tui, a super nice eleven-year-old Tortoiseshell.

Sadly, ol’ Pipi has passed away. And it looks like Bronson has gone back to his proper home on the next street and is staying put because, so far, I haven’t seen him in the two weeks I’ve been here. I think Tui is quite happy about Bronson not being here just quietly, and she’s enjoying the undivided attention and having the house (and food) to herself. 😉 I don’t think she remembered me from last time because she was a bit shy for the first couple days. But she soon came out of her shell and she has been my shadow ever since and will follow me pretty much everywhere.

I’m here until May 19th and then it’s straight off to the Rotorua area. So far I’ve had no house sit cancellations due to the drama in the Middle East and the fuel situation, though I have had some homeowners alter their dates by a day or two because their flights have been changed by airlines trying to consolidate their fuel etc. But apart from that, everything I have booked is still going ahead, at this stage anyway. I’m just playing it one property at a time.

Looks a nice spot, Craig. Do you prefer house sitting in town or rurally? We have a house in a quiet cul-de-sac in Cambridge and we’re looking for somebody to look after our King Charles Spaniels later on this year. Would you be interested?

Hi there, I tend to go for rural properties but I do enjoy the occasional stay in town for a change. I do love the King Charles Spaniels, they’re such nice dogs. Feel free to give me a call if you’d like to have a chat. My details can be found on my Contact page. Thanks.
