House Sitting In Levin – Second Visit

My current house sit finds me on my second Levin property. This is a lifestyle block situated just a few minutes’ drive south of town. It’s a repeat house sit for me. I was here a couple years ago. The homeowners had invited me back to look after their place last year but I was already booked up for the dates they were after so unfortunately I had to give it a miss. But here I am once again, and it’s good to be back. I always enjoy returning to properties I’ve particularly enjoyed in the past. This time round the home owners have headed up to Japan for a family holiday for a couple weeks

I have here a well set-up lifestyle block and a nice comfy brick home with all the mod cons. As far as the animals go, I have three doggies. Lacy is an elderly Labrador and next is Buddy, who looks ferocious (especially with his one blue eye and one brown eye combo) but in reality is just a big softie. Both Lacy and Buddy are semi-outdoor dogs. They spend most of the time outside but they can come in for the night to sleep in the laundry where they have beds set up for them. And when the weather is manky during the day, they can have access to the laundry to get out of the elements.

Thirdly there is Tiny, who is a super-fun Jack Russell cross. She’s about a year old and very high energy. It can take a surprisingly long time to wear out her little legs playing chase and fetch but she’s been lots of fun. Then she’ll flake out on the couch next to me to sleep things off until she’s ready for the next round of games. Tiny is pretty much an inside dog. She comes and goes as she pleases and she has a cage in the lounge where she spends the nights.

Then there is the one cat who goes by the name of Meow-meow (yes, you read that right), a super-friendly kitty cat who I think remembers me from when I was here in 2024, believe it or not. He’s not too keen on Tiny, who gets in his face a bit wanting to play, so he spends most of his days sleeping in the hay shed where he can get some peace and quiet. Once Tiny has gone to bed then Meow-meow will come in and camp on the end of my bed for the night.

There are also a couple equines, the first being Oscar who I believe is 22 years old, and Bucky a miniature horse who you feel you could almost pick up and put in your pocket. Both are friendly and easy maintenance, with a daily ‘poo patrol’ being about the most work needed, apart from making up a muesli-mix for their dinner.
