This is where I’m currently staying, a lifestyle block about 15 minutes north-west of Napier, in the Puketapu area. I’m here just for a few days to fill in a short gap in my house sitting schedule before my next property, which is just on the other side of Hastings, so it’s not too far away from this place, about a 30-minute drive.
Really nice house here, and it gets inundated with morning sunshine. There’re a few sheep running around the block but they’re pretty well self-sufficient. I found one cast early this morning by the gate, but I got to it in time and got it back on its feet again. Typical sheep, they always seem to get themselves into trouble of some sort or another.
I’m spoiled for choice when it comes to fruit here. This is Hawke’s Bay after all. There’s apples, pears, guava, figs, raspberries, boysenberries, feijoas, and green and black grapes.
Animal-wise, apart from the sheep, there’re five working dogs who get a half-hour run twice a day, and there’s a very spoiled and very adorable two-year-old Burmese who goes by the name of Nala.
